Blackstone Farm-Bred Yearling Bring $1.1M at Saratoga
August 9, 2022
A Blackstone Farm-bred yearling by Triple Crown champion Justify was hammered down for $1.1 million during the opening season of the The Saratoga Sale. The flashy colt is the second highest-priced yearling of the session and the first yearling from Justify´s second crop to top seven figures.
The winning bidder was Coolmore´s M.V. Magnier.
"Justify is going really, really well at the moment," Magnier told Thoroughbred Daily News after the hammer fell. "It has been incredible, since we have been here the last few days, the amount of people that have come up and said how well he is doing. He couldn´t be going any better than he is going."
Sold as Hip #78 with Warrendale Sales, the colt is out of the Langfuhr mare Slews Golden Rule and is a half-brother to the Blackstone Farm-bred Stakes winner Ledecka.
"He is a very nice horse. The boys liked him, so hopefully he is a good horse. We will bring him back to Ashford," Magnier added.
Blackstone Farm offered four other yearlings on opening night and all of them sold:
Hip #14, a More Than Ready colt - $250,000 to Mr. Anthony Stabile
Hip #59, a Bernardini filly - $170,000 to Highbury Bloodstock
Hip #100, a Gun Runner filly - $300,000 to Elements Racing LLC
Hip #105, an Arrogate filly - $200,000 to Starlight Racing
